Our first Sew project!

I recently got asked by Design and Dress Me to do a review of one of their items they came up with. The item is a nightgown for your very own 18 inch doll. The product seemed simple enough so I thought, hey, why not. Sure we are novice sewers but with the right instructions we can do anything! And we did just that! Upon receiving the package we undressed London (Our 18 inch Journey girl) and got to work!

When we opened the package we realized we were provided with everything we need other than a pair of scissors. This is a huge plus because to be honest, I don't even think we own a sewing needle. The package included 2 pieces of fabric, the pattern for the project, the instructions and a small bag full of essentials. The small back contained 1 needle, a plethora of pins, a bow, the tag for the project and the thread, perfect!

First we laid out the instructions so this Mama could read them as we went! (Pardon my camera quality, my good camera always seems to die at the most inopportune times!) The instructions are very straight forward, so we moved on.

We laid our fabric out, like so, and pinned it all together as shown in the instructions above. Once we completed this step we laid our pattern on top and pinned it as well. From there we moved onto the cutting part. I highly recommend having a good pair of scissors for this part. Ours weren't the best and I made a few little booboos but we realized we could fix them up in the sewing process.
This is our cut project, I obviously don't have the steadiest of hand, but that's okay, that's why we are using the unfinished side! Once the cutting part was done it was onto the sewing. The little started the project but at her age it doesn't really attention doesn't really hold strong, so Dolly Mom and Dolly Dad took over! It took us roughly half an hour to sew the dress which was a lot quicker than I expected. When we were done sewing we added the bow and the label as per instructions, and were left with an adorable nightgown that we were all extremely proud of.
Just look at London and how adorable she is! We did this 3 days ago and our Little has yet to take it off of her doll! Overall this was a great project and almost effortless to complete, and in the end we were all so excited!

Would you like to create your own doll nightgown? If so, head on over to Amazon and pick up this hot item! It comes in multiple colors, and is so easy even the novice of sewers can do it! You wont be disappointed!
